LEED and Soft Demolition

As part of our Demolition section, our soft demolition services include partial or complete structure demolition, selective interior or exterior demolition and total building interior strip outs. During this process we are aware of LEED requirements and regulations. LEED or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design is helping to deliver more energy and overall environmentally friendly efficient buildings and communities. According to the U.S Green Building Council, LEED certification increases property value and may qualify for several incentives like tax rebates. Below are recent news about companies and buildings that are seeing the benefits of becoming LEED certified:

• Recent news from Vancouver Sun for LEED is an old stock exchange building in Vancouver doing a $200 million LEED renovation. More and more individuals are aware of LEED and the benefits it can bring to a building and to a community as a whole.
• McDonalds recently opened a LEED certified restaurant in North Carolina. The restaurant is projected to use 24% less energy than a standard McDonalds. The demolition process was also environmentally friendly. Almost ninety percent of the materials were recycled and used to repurpose in some manner.
• The company Vertegy helped three projects located in the United States reach LEED Certification and all three projects earned LEED Silver Certification

These are recent news of companies and communities that are becoming LEED Certified and are taking into consideration the demolition process as environmentally friendly as they can and recycling 99% of the materials.
